Money Saving & Electric Heaters

The average household is always on the look out for ways in which they can save money and reduce the cost of their monthly outgoings and expenditure. The world economy over the past 5 years or so has been tough on just about everyone but it has been especially hard felt by homeowners and it is no surprise that they have been researching different ways in which to cut their bills; even a slight reduction here and there can go a long way to saving money in the long term and this is definitely true when it comes to household and energy bills.

Some methods which we use to heat our homes have become ridiculously expensive in recent years and the likes of gas and oil have sky rocketed in terms of their price and this has only had the effect of increasing energy bills to an extent whereby they become almost un-affordable. Why, though, should you turn to electric heating systems as a means to heat your home and can they really save you money?

Because these systems work off electricity then they are much faster in terms of heating the rooms that they are installed in; so this, in turn, means that they can potentially be left on for a lesser time period as the room or the whole house itself will be warmed up in a much quicker time. In fact, many people have claimed that you can save up to 30% or even more on your bill with these systems because of the fact that they use less energy and can be easily hooked up to an automated thermostat that will turn on the heating at certain times and turn it back off again as well. This reduces the chances of the system being accidently left on and wasting money and energy as a result.

Safeguarding The Entries To Your House

When we think about a potential thief breaking in to our homes it can be easy to just think about the front and back doors as a way in which to gain entry and by locking these at night many of us assume that this is enough to prevent a burglary. And even more of us think that simply shutting the windows will also be more than enough to combat any break-ins from that angle.

However, Vivint security thinks about things much more deeply than this and it is important that you, as a homeowner, cover all angles in regard to leaving your home exposed. A shut window is not enough to deter many thieves and it is vitally important that these windows are actually locked at night and every night as well even if this can be a bit of a chore and seem like a bit of a bore at that time of night. The same goes for your doors; you might think that the odds of someone choosing your home to break into are extremely slim especially if your area does not have a record of home intrusions; however the possibility still remains and there is no point in taking an unnecessary risk when it comes to your property and its valuables.

With Vivint home automation you can virtually wipe out the human error that is often associated with burglary and instead ensure that your house is properly safeguarded against this type of crime. Having all your window and door locks automated and linked up to a central systems means that, rather than going around each window and door at night and securing them manually, a simple command in the control panel will do all of that for you and you can sleep soundly in the knowledge that your property is safe and protected.

Helping my Daughter Pick a Dog Name

I have been really amazed at how much my daughter has changed my life.  It has been an interesting journey of learning about her and seeing a reflection of myself in her.  She is only six, but these last six years have been life changing, and I am really looking forward to being part of her life for the rest of mine.  The latest experience we are having is trying to come up with a name for her new puppy, and it has been quite an adventure.

The funny thing is that at her age, she doesn’t necessarily get the gender stereotypes when it comes to names.  In our case, she is trying to find female dog names that would work for her new puppy, but sometimes her suggestions miss the mark.  For example, I have had to tell her that “Brad” doesn’t work as a girl’s name, so we have had some good discussions about names.

I have been trying to steer her in the right direction, but I don’t want to come right out and give her a name for her dog.  I think that naming anything is an important process, and I want her to make the decision – not me.  I know that my wife and I really struggled to come up with the perfect name for our daughter, but with a little perseverance, we did make a great choice.

My wife wanted to take another route and have us come up with the name, but I really saw this as an opportunity for our daughter to make an important decision.  Sure, she is only six years old, but giving her some responsibility is a good choice.  I can really tell that she is taking her task seriously, and though it might take her a little longer, I think that in the end, she will really appreciate being the one with the duty to come up with a name.

We have decided not to rush her in her name choice, but we don’t want her to take too long either.  She has until the end of the week to come up with a name, and I am really looking forward to hearing what she chooses.  I just really hope it is something great – I don’t want our dog to be called “Muffy”.
